Super Simple Birthday!

I have just a super, simple card to show you today.  I needed a Birthday card last week and "whipped" this up.

I used all Stampin' Up! items and think it turned out really cute!

Have a great Tuesday!

Just Add Cake......Wraps Up!

Well, I a "wrapping up" the week with the last two cards that I made using SU!'s Just Add Cake DSP paper pack.  They are both so much alike that I decided to feature them both together on the same post.

I used the rest of the scrap crumb cake flower that I had just sitting waiting to be used and a cute brad that I got with one of my sale-a-bration freebies! Yeah - don't you just love FREE goodies??

The next card was the same design but I changed out the flower with another Sale-A-Bration freebie stamp set called Elementary Elegance, added an antique brad and a small sentiment in the corner.  Both cards were finished off very simple inside.

I have enjoyed sharing this week - I hope you have enjoyed looking also!

I hope to create some more using my new SAB items.  Stop back again next week :)

Hello!

Making this card just made me smile :)  I was just letting the creative juices flow and was just grabbing scraps that I had sitting on my counter in front of me and came up with this little jewel!

I had this flower that I cranked out of my Big Shot sitting around for a few days and I grabbed it and it just worked with this card!  Again, the DSP paper is SU!'s Just Add Cake.

I love the little "Hello" from the set Tiny Tags just peeking out below.

The inside I left very plain...too plain :(  I think now, I might just add a "shadow" of an image in the corner of the white (where I will stamp the image on a scrap of paper and then on my cardstock) and a happy bright sentiment.

Hope you are having a good week and enjoying the Just Add Cake week!!  I actually have TWO more cards to show you so stay tuned!

Happy Birthday!

The DSP paper Just Add Cake from SU!, I think is mainly for birthday cards but I have used it this week for lots of other occasions!  Today I did use it for birthday.  Not a particular birthday - just to have it on hand when I need it!

I stitched around the inside portion and the little squares of the DSP paper to add a little texture.

I love it when you leave comments about my cards!   Thanks for stopping by!

A Speedy Recovery!

A young girl in our community has just returned home from Children's Hospital in Omaha, NE.  She had skull surgery and is recovery at home - the surgery a success!

I wanted to send her a card to hopefully put a smile on her face so I used the Just Add Cake DSP from SU! and a new stamp set from the upcoming Sale-a-Bration!

The sentiment is not SU! but everything else is!  Poppy Parade, and Peach Parfait are the main colors used.  This is the inside of the card.

I will have another card tomorrow - Happy Birthday!

Just Add Cake!

I purchased the paper pack "Just Add Cake" from Stampin' UP! and finally broke it open last week and I have been on a card making frenzy with this pack!  The first card I made, I saw a challenge sketch and made this card.

So then, I decided to make another one with a different sentiment in the center.

I made both cards insides exactly alike.

I will have more to show using this DSP pack in the days to come so remember to stop back and see some more!

Thanks - Gail S.

Wow! What a difference a week makes!

Last week in Nebraska today the temperature got up into the upper 60's (I did hear 70 degrees on one news report) and it was beautiful.  So beautiful this is what my husband John and I did with some friends.

Yep.  We went kayaking in January...in Nebraska!!  We will not be able to say that every year but we could say that this year!!

As we started out, the water was wonderful and we were just cruising along....until we came around one bend about half way through our trip and we encountered ice chunks.  The weather was so warm that the ice that had formed along the edge started to break off and flow into the current.  We encountered an ice jam and waited about 30 minutes and it broke up so we continued on our way but caught up to the ice.

We all said that we were glad we had strong, sturdy kayak that could take the ice "bumping" against our sides.  It was also hard to get our paddles into the water without just hitting ice!  This was an adventure that we can check off of our bucket list!  Kayaking in January!

Like I said it was a beautiful January Sunday afternoon and today, one week later it is cold, cloudy, sprinkles and now as I look out the window - it is starting to snow!!!!  What a difference from last week!!

Hope your week is a good one!

What's wrong with this picture????

Do you ever see those "What's wrong with this picture" pictures in magazines? You know, the ones that they change something just ever so slightly and you look and look and try to figure it out?  Well, over the weekend I made a few cards including this one.

Now, I had seen this card idea on a blog that I was browsing and of course forgot which one but I liked the simple look of this card and knew I could make it in just a few minutes.  I got the card all put together and snapped the picture and then while posting it on an email, I noticed something wrong....very wrong....can you see it???  Yep - my heart paper is upside down!!!  Real quick I was able to - very carefully - peel off the paper and reassemble it correctly so the hearts were all headed the right direction :)

Any way.  Cute, easy valentine card that you can send in the mail with no bulk and will put a smile and anyones face.

Thanks for looking today!

Happy Wednesday!

We are now in the middle of the week - Happy Wednesday!  I used some more of my precious new SU! DSP paper to put together this butterfly card!

I embossed the butterfly to give it more texture and used the new SU! framelits.  I also added some of SU!'s pearls on the butterfly.

The embossing looks silver in this photo but it is SU! iredescent ice.  To complete the card - I added some tiny tags to some twine love to use these little bits of sunshine :)

I finished the inside real simple with some of my scraps.

Now that the card is finished, I look at it and think I should have pierced the soft suede frame that I cut out behind the butterfly or maybe ran it through one of SU!'s embossing folders..oh well maybe next time.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sharing In Your Sorrow...

A fellow stamping friend of mine, Debbie Fisher lost her husband's Grandma this past week and I wanted to send her and her family a sympathy card.  I used some of the new SU! DSP paper that you can get during SU! sale-a-bration.  I love this paper so much!

I also used my go to stamp set Thoughts and Prayers.  I used crumb cake, pool party, calypso coral, and very vanilla cardstock.  The image was stamped in soft suede.  I added some SU! pearls to the center of the boho blossom flowers that I punched out.

I also like to finish the inside of my cards:

To get that cute scallop edge, I use SU! Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch.  I love SU!'s punches!!

Thanks for stopping by - I love it when you leave comments.

Happy Birthday Rikki and Rayven!

I have twin nieces that will be having a birthday and needed to whip up some birthday cards for them.  I used some retired Christmas DSP paper from last year, real red and baha breeze cardstock and ink and some cute, fluffy ribbon that I purchase in a box of craft supplies from a garage sale.  I used the Happy Birthday sentiment to stamp on the front from the set Curly Cute and cute it is!!

I also used the ***NEW*** Edgelits and the coordinating embossing folders on the whisper white cardstock....toooooo cute!!

Stampin Up! has some wonderful new products coming out and it has been fun playing with them.  Check back soon for some more peeks!  They have come out with a paper pack that you can only get during Sale-a-bration.  It is the kind of paper I L*O*V*E!!!  Beautiful :)

On a personal note - I love living out in the country but sometimes UGH!!  We woke up this morning with NO WATER!!  My husband went outside and checked the well and it had some issues.  I was in need of a cup of coffee!!  Our son lives just a few miles away so I called him and he saved the day by bringing a cooler down with water in it.  Got the coffee made and the well is fixed so we are good to go.  Makes you appreciate something so simple as water when you don't have it!!

Have a great day!!

Christmas around the Slagle house!

I really enjoy decorating for Christmas and have hoarded collected many pretties for the holiday.  Today I would like to share the house when it was all ready for Christmas.  This was my big tree this year.  I actually have four trees in the house, one big tree and three little ones scattered in the kitchen, dining room and family room:

I took this picture during the daytime so you don't see the lights twinkling.  This year I put multi colored lights on the tree.   Sometimes I put all white one and other years we go for the different colors. At night, I would turn off all the lights except the ones on the tree and the lighted garland I had going down the stairs and it was so pretty.  The next pictures I am not going to write anything about them, I am just going to print them for you to enjoy.

I hope you enjoyed the little tour of my Christmas decorations! Blessings to all of you in the new year!

Christmas at our home.

Happy New Year and 2012!!!

I know that Christmas was a week ago but with working and getting things put back to "normal" I haven't had much time to get much else done.  But today I do have some pictures of our Christmas holiday.  What a great time we had!

Abbey, my daugher acted as Santa Claus handing out the gifts for our family.  After opening gifts we had a breakfast egg casserole and homemade Kolaches for breakfast that a neighbor had delivered the day before.  They were yummy!!

Here are a few candid shots of the kids opening gifts.
John and Jeff are above and my son-in-law, Bart is on the left.  We bought the little one that Abbey and Bart are expecting in July a Nebraska Husker "onesie"

Below is my husband John and my daughter Abbey.  Even Bart and Abbey's dog, Paxton got some gifts - squeeky toys and bones.

In the afternoon - we had 15 people over for food and more fun!  We had prime rib and all of the fixings to go with it.  It was so good and when we got done - no one was hungry!  For dessert we had carrot cake and chocolate cheesecake.  One of my neice's twins sure thought the cheesecake was good!!

Yummy!

After everyone ate we had a few games.  Every year it has become tradition to have a Left, Right game and we also had a Christmas trivia game this year.  Abbey won the trivia game and we all had fun with the gifts we won from the left, right game.  After the games were done, we then Skyped our relatives in California!  It is so amazing that we can see our relatives and talk with them especially on special days like Christmas.  For those who have never used Skype - it is wonderful if you have loved ones that live far away.  We got skype so when the new little one arrives, I will be able to see her/him whenever we can!

After that, we opened gifts.  Abbey and Bart bought my dad a new throw for when we get those cold Nebraska snowy days.

When everyone was gone in the evening, the kids all just hung out upstairs
Tommorrow I will share some of the decorations I had around the house.  I really like decorating for Christmas and get sad when I have to pack them away for another year.  Thanks for stopping by! Come back tomorrow!
