Butterflies!

I got a little crazy with the flowers and butterlies on this card! I had my Vintage Vogue stamp set still out last from Monday's post (yes, I know I need to picku up!) and started stamping Melon Mambo flowers everywhere! Then while watching TV, I cut them out to use somehow.  Well,I had a doily laying on my craft counter and came up with this!

I used up some cardstock I had laying around and added some cute butterflies and it was finished!

Thanks for stopping by!

A Cupcake Card

This card has quite a bit of sewing.  I haven't used my sewing machine in quite some time and had to dust it off! I thought this card is bright and cheery and super cute!  I CASED it I THINK on this blog but I went looking on her blog and couldn't find out where it was. It is out there somewhere. If I am incorrect on the blog - please let me know and I will update this post.

I love the Baja Breeze and the Pretty in Pink together with a mix of Early Espresso and Whisper White!  Someone special will get this card. Sewing the little banner points were a little tricky but we got it done.

I used SU! Create a cupcake stamp set.

Have a good day and weekend! I sure am ready for the weekend :)

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #254

Hello!

Happy Thursday to you all!  Through the Luv 2 Stamp group that I am a member of, Nicole Tugrul posted a card she made for the Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge. The sketch for this challenge was this:

I decided to make a card for this challenge.  I still had my DSP paper out from retired Wednesday post (Everyday Enchantment) so I decided to use that paper.  I used scraps for most of this card!

I used kraft cardstock for the base and the stamp set Hearts a Flutter from SU! The sentiment is from the Occasional Quotes (a hostess set from awhile back) I did quite a bit of distressing to this card.

Did you notice the small tag down in the bottom left corner?  Guess what it is made from?  The Stampin Up! packing paper that your order comes with!  Recycle is added to this card as well!

I also added a small brad to the Congratulations banner.

As always, I love to finish the insides of my cards - this one I just placed a simple piece of paper at the top.

Thanks for stopping by!  I will see you tomorrow!!

Retired Wednesday!

It is suprising how Wednesday's roll around so quickly. Once again I have a card to share using up some of my retired papers!

This card is using the retired Everyday Enchantment DSP along with Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Gumball Green, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla cardstocks. The everyday enchantment paper was a SAB item last year and I got an extra pack on the SU! clearance rack awhile back. It is a beautiful paper pack.
Isn't this layout c-u-t-e???  I love it. I will have to use it again on other cards! The stamp set used is mixed blossoms and it has a coordinating punch available for the flower shape which makes it super easy (no manual cutting!).

I even brought out my crimper for this card to give the leaves dimension - along with using several punches and the polka dot embossing folder. I also used my bone folder to help "curl" the edges of the flower petals and the leaves.

The inside I used the same DSP paper and just added a punched out flower with a tiny brad to the upper corner.  I might add a sentiment when I get ready to send the card. This could be a great Birthday, Get Well or just a Thinking of You card.

I made another card using this paper and linked up to a challenge. I will post it tomorrow...so be sure to check back!!

More Sympathy Cards....

Unfortunatley, we got news regarding two more deaths.   One was a good friend of my mothers and also her son is a good friend of my husband. My husband and her son have been good friends since grade school. His mother got sick recently and passed away on Friday. Then, some good friends of ours their mother passed away also last week.  Both funerals are coming up this week and they are all so in our thoughts and prayers.  I made them special cards and I got the ideas for them on Pinterest.  I searched "Sympathy Cards" and up came quite a few choices.

Colors used were: Whisper White, Marina Mist, Night of Navy and Old Olive. The stamp sets used: Love and Sympathy and Vintage Vogue.

The next card I made was using the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set and I brought out the retired Pear Pizazz cardstock, ink & ribbon.

This card went together fast yet I really like the look of it.  I hope I don't have to make any more sympathy cards for a very long time.  It is always hard when you are making cards for someone that you knew and loved.

Thanks for stopping by and come back Wednesday - I have a super cute card to share!

Happy Birthday! - Retired Wednesday!

I really like this card that I made a while back!  I need to sit and make some more of these ~ just looking at it makes me smile!!

First, I have to credit Teneale Williams for her amazing cards.  Now this lady spends HOURS on one card and the results look it. They are ALL beautiful.  Just check out her blog when you have time. Now waaaaayyyy back in October of last year Teneale made this card:

Grad Congrats By Teneale Williams, Great news www.tenealewilliams.com.au now has been updated and you can subscribe to email updates.

Isn't it just so cute???

I just fell in love with it and knew I had to CASE it!  I came up with this version:

Now my card is not NEAR as elaborate as Teneale's card but I spent maybe 20 minutes on this card and I still love it.

The stamp set Blue Ribbon is still available but the paper (birthday cake)is retired. I love this paper and it is almost all gone. It is so bright and cheery.

Here is the inside of my card:

I like the distressed look on this card!  I used Early Espresso ink all over the place!

I hope you are enjoying Retired Wednesday's - I am getting rid of some of my retired paper but I still have A LOT left so you will be seeing Retired Wedneday's for quite some time.

Simple Elegance

My husband and I attended a wedding this past week that my oldest son was the best man. The groom that got married has been a good friend of my son's since they were in kindergarten. They have a special bond and still only live about 2 miles from each other! It was a beautiful wedding and after such a tragic week, we needed a little something to celebrate. The wedding was very simple and small but the reception was quite a celebration. I made this card and it was so simple yet so very elegant. It really only took me about 15 minutes to make from start to finish.

All I used and whisper white and basic black cardstock, an embossing folder and the SU! assorted pearls to finish it off.

It turned out so pretty.

Thanks for stopping - I hope I inspired you to get creative!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge

Today I went for therapy...my craft room.  It is the best therapy for me. I can hole up in my craft room and just work until my heart is content...or until it gets too dark that my eyes cannot adjust to just the light in the room!

I saw this sketch on face book today and thought I could make a card using it for my incentive.

I dug out my newest DSP paper from SU! called Sunshine and Sprinkles. It is new in the spring catalog. I also used the new Just Thinking stamp.

I used gumball green, marina mist and daffodil delight cardstock. The polka dot ribbon matches the small pink unbrellas in the DSP. For just an extra touch, I added a rhinestone to the stamped image, I punched the edgelit frame and used the herringbone embossing folder to give the card more texture.  I always have to finish the inside.

Thanks for stopping by today - I hope you find some inspiration and try this sketch out also. The challenge is open for the next two weeks so you have plenty of time and you can enter as many cards as you want! Just go to The Sweetest Thing blog and enter!

I hope your week is good - Gail S.

My Heart is Sad

This is one of those really hard posts. Right now my heart is breaking for my sister, myself and for our little community. Yesterday we buried a very special person in our lives.  This past week has been a horrible blur.

A week ago tomorrow, my sister's boyfriend of 3 1/2 years took his little granddaughters sledding. Now he was a guy who loved to make all kinds of fun things and he had taken a car hood and turned it upside down and welded a car seat to the hood and made a sled for the girls to sit on. He would then tow the sled around open fields in the snow on the back of his tractor. Last Sunday, while sledding the tractor ran out of gas and the group went and got gas and was refueling and something happened and the tractor ran over him.

It is the most horrific thing a person has to go through when the doctor tells you, "I am sorry, he did not make it."

The arrangements, the visits, the stories, the funeral  all of the emotions have been so painful.  My heart breaks for my sister who is just lost and is just hurting so much. I would give anything to take away her pain and hurting.  They were so happy together and each of them make their lives complete. He told her that he wanted to show her the world. He was her everything.  His latest dream was to build a Veterans Memorial in our little town. Now he was not a veteran but he believed that those that fought for our country should be honored and remembered.

He will be missed. We love you Dennis.
