Thank You Cards

I shared earlier this week that I walked for Alzheimer's and I needed to make some Thank You cards for those that helped my reach my goal that I had set for myself. I decided to make 2 different styles of cards and this is the first card I made:

Bright and cheery with a little bling!

I will share the other Thank You card I made tomorrow....so stop by and see that one also!

Strength & Hope - Flashback Friday

My daughter's best friend has a sister that is fighting breast cancer. She is only in her 30's and has two young children.

She recently underwent a double mastectomy and I wanted to send her a special card to let her know that others are thinking and praying for her healing and recovery.

Again, I got this layout on Pinterest. I tried to go to the blog and there was an error so I cannot give credit to the original maker. I used the retired SU! set Strength & Hope from  A beautiful set.

I added some glitter spritz to the butterfly and some pretty pearls.

The inside I made very simple and I will add my own words that I am praying that she has a quick recovery. She has quite a journey ahead but a lot of support.

We are starting to have cooler days and evenings here in Nebraska. Fall is beautiful here this time of year.

Alzheimers Walk

A group from my town walked for Alzheimer's last month. Unfortunately, Alzheimer's has hit our family. My mother was diagnosed with the horrible disease about 5 years ago. It is a disease that just gets harder and harder as the years go on. There is a lot of stress involved for the caregivers.

Hopefully with research they will one day be able to find a cure for this horrible disease. Now I have to get some Thank You cards made for all the helped me reach my goal fundraising. I exceeded my goal by quite a bit. People were very generous and most had their own stories to tell about friends and relatives that have or have had Alzheimer's.

I will share my Thank you cards in the days ahead.

Happy I Do Day!

I don't think I ever posted this card. My niece got married in Las Vegas in July and I made this card for her. Simple but sweet.

I added a little "bling" to the sentiment and a pretty blue bow (her colors were black and baby blue).

I wish the two of them the best in the years to come.

Stamping Peaches Paper Challenge

Today I have the day off due to Columbus Day and get to do a little crafting. It was rainy outside so a perfect day to spend it in the craft room! I decided to enter the Stamping Peaches Paper Challenge. It is a new challenge blog. This weeks challenge sketch was:

A pretty simple sketch but it took me some time to think about it! I started out using the DSP paper called Gingham Garden from SU! but decided the card was too busy to use so I just decided to use the color scheme that is used in this DSP paper: Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizzazz, Night of Navy and Whisper White. This is the card I came up with for the challenge.

I like the simple, clean lines of this card. So many times I make cards with a lot of layers and "bling" and sometimes it is nice to just have a real clean card. I used the SU! in color adornments for the centers of my flowers. The colors match perfectly!

I paper pierced around the coordinating cardstock to give it a little more texture. I also popped up the flowers to give it some more dimension.

Thanks for stopping by today and try this challenge yourself. There is still time....the deadline is Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.

Stamps: A Round Array, A Dozen Thoughts
Ink: Melon Mambo
Cardstock: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz
Punches: 7/8 & 1 1/4 Scallop Circles
Other: In color Dahlias, dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by! I have been busy making lots of cards so will be having quite a few posts in the days ahead.

CASED Card from Lisa Rhine

Happy Monday everyone!  Today is Columbus Day and I have the day off from work(YAY!!)

Today I want to share a card that I made using a layout from Lisa Rhine. Her blog is Get Crafty with Lisa and she has amazing cards to share. Check her out! Friday, she shared this card.

I love the layout of this card and decided to try this layout on another card. This is my version of this layout:

Again, I used my favorite DSP paper and crumb cake. I love how it turned out. Instead of Halloween, I went for a generic card that I can send to someone when I need a simple yet elegant card.

I love all of the layers and the colors are so pretty together.

Lisa had bats on her Halloween card and I thought two butterflies were great for this card.

Enjoy your Monday and I hope this encourages you to try this layout also. If so, please share!

Prayer Journal Class

Oh My!  I am so glad to be back! I don't get sick too often but when I do...what a doosey! I have been sick for 10 days now with a tremendous cold. Still coughing quite a bit but I think I am going to live. The minute I started to feel bad, I went to the doctor and got something for it and I am glad I did. If I hadn't, I can only imagine how bad it would have gotten. I am now on the mend!

Two weeks ago, I hosted a prayer journal class. There were 5 people that attended and it was a fun night.

These are the two different covers for the journals. The top one was made by a man that attended to class. I took/purchased the class from a fellow SU! demo Rhonda Wade and changed it up to personalize it for me and my attendants.

I think everyone had a great time making their journals just how they wanted them to be. The class was about 2 1/2 hours and I had everything cut out and ready to go.

We added a wonderful prayer I found to the front of our journals, pretty clips for reference, a ribbon for a bookmark and some great scriptures throughout the journals. We also made 4 simple cards to send to people to let them know we were praying for them.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!
