Happy Birthday...times two!

While digging through my stash of scraps and card stock, I whipped up this card:

It is bright and cheery and another birthday card I can add to my "grab & go" stack. Then I stamped another real quick birthday card using a stamp set I had sitting on the counter:

Two cards made in about 20 minutes!  Not bad.

Hope you hare having a wonderful weekend!

Funky Fold Card

I received this card from Sharon Lim way back in February. Her blog is named "A little of this, a little of that.." She was a winner of a Luv 2 Stamp group card contest.  The fold she used is called a Funky Fold and you can find out the measurements and where to score and cut HERE.

This card is so pretty in real life.  It is currently sitting on my craft counter where I can enjoy it :)

This past Sunday, I finally had some time to try this fold out and it is really fun.

Isn't it cute?  I used scraps of paper and ribbon that I had in my stash.  Love the little onsie in the SU! Baby Bundle stamp set and I used an old "special Delivery" sentiment stamp - it fit just perfect in the punch!

I had so much fun making one card - I made another one!

Do you like that wild paper?  I made it myself! Hehe!
The unique part of this card is that folded, it fits into a regular sized A2 envelope which is great!

Try this one out for yourself and go visit Sharon's blog..she has some more different folded cards to share with you also!

Thanks for stopping by!

Inspired By Dawn!

I saw this card by Dawn Olchefske whos blog is Do Stamping With Dawn and knew I had to make one of these!

Creative-Elements-3-Time

Isn't it so pretty?  I love how the flowers go from one layer to the next!  I was trying to use up some old retires SU! paper Crushed Curry, so I decided to try it in that color.  Here is my take:

Dawn has a video on her blog that shows how easy this is!  I know I will be making more of these and with different stamp sets.

I decorated the inside just very simple with just whisper white cardstock and a stamped image of the flower in the bottom left corner (had a picture of it but it is way too fuzzy!!)

Thanks for stopping by!!

A Card for Chad

I had the greatest weekend...I got to spend most of Sunday in the Craft room making cards!! Yay!

Earlier this month, our area had a real tragedy happen. An accident about 30 miles from where I live killed 3 people and left 8 injured.  An elderly man driving a pickup truck crossed the center line and hit a van with high school basketball boys in it. Both coaches in the van were killed as well as the elderly man.  There are still two of the boys that are in the hospital and one, Chad Christensen, is in a rehab hospital.  The local paper/radio as well as my friend, Debbie Fisher is asking for a card shower for Chad.  Debbie is a cousin of Chad's father.  Even though I don't know Chad or his family, this accident has touched my heart as well as many others.  The outpouring of love and care has been tremendous.  This is when it is truly great to live in a small town.

This is the card I made for Chad:

I used the SU! stamp set "Wanted".  Love this set for guy cards!  The sentiments are also a SU! stamp set that I purchased online from someone cleaning out their craftroom.

Chad is improving every day and is starting to walk and talk with the help of rehab.

I loved this saying by Abraham Lincoln because Chad's journey is truly one day at a time.  ESPN reporter Elizabeth Merrill wrote a wonderful article about what has happened. You can read HERE.

I got this card idea from Chat W. from Me, My Stamps & I.  She is very talented!

Thanks for stopping by and I will have more cards to share during the week!

Mojo Monday Card

I decided today to enter the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge for this week!  This is the first time I have ever entered a challenge and it is helpful to make a card with a sketch.  This week's challenge sketch is:

This sketch was created by Mary Fish from Stampin' Pretty.  Mary has wonderful creations on her blog.  Here is my take on this week's sketch:

I used Night of Navy cardstock and ink, Crushed Curry ribbon and cardstock and the stamp set Cute by the Inch.

The challenge is open until tomorrow, June 24th if you would like to enter.

Hope you are having a good weekend :)

Birthday Card for Dad

My Dad recently celebrated his 81st birthday and for his card I used the SU! set The Open Sea.  I found this card idea on Pinterest and I have attached the link for all of the details HERE. She even has the link to make the cute knot in the twine.  I used baker's twine and she used the hemp twine and I personally think the hemp shows up better so if I make this card again, I will use it.

Dad really enjoyed his card and we had a great time going out to eat to celebrate!

Hope you have a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping.

Fabulous!

I made this card for a challenge that Patty Bennett has for the month of June.  The challenge is a card with masking.  You can learn more about what that is on Patty's blog HERE.  For my card, the masking portion was the flower.  I punched out a pattern using the blossom punch and placed it on a piece of whisper white cardstock.  Using Daffodil Delight ink, I sponged it over my blossom pattern and onto my cutout cardstock.  I then embellished the flower with a cute brad and some coordinating cardstock.  My DSP that I used is from the Summer Smooches package and I used Daffodil Delight ribbon and extra brads on the side.  I hope you enjoy this!

Sending Love and Sympathy

I needed to make some more sympathy cards and I got the idea for this card in the new Stampin' UP! catalog.  I used the Love and Sympathy stamp set along with soft suede, whisper white, baja breeze and certainly celery cardstock.  The card was pretty simple and I ended up making 4 of the same card so I could have some on hand.  Do you make several cards at one time or do you just make one card?  I really would like to know.

To get the "two toned" shading on the flower, I used the SU! markers and used a darker and lighter shades of blue.  I love to create an inside as well as front of the card so this is the inside of the cards that I made:

The sentiment that I used inside is from a SU! retired set.  I even stamped an image of the flower on the envelope.

Thanks for stopping in - I do have more to share in a day or two!

BRAN comes to Sargent!

Wow! Our little town of Sargent (Pop. 577) has been busy this week!! Sunday was the kick off of our annual Chokecherry Jamboree and that lasted thru Tuesday with parade, pancake feed, little girls beauty competition, carnival, salad luncheon etc. The week was full of lots of hours in town and coming home exhausted but it was fun.

Then on Wednesday the BRAN group biked into town.  BRAN is Bike Riders Across Nebraska.  The bikers started out in the far west part of Nebraska and they spend a week biking across the whole state of Nebraska and end up close to the far east part of the state.  Wednesday evening they spent in our little town.

There were 600 bikers registered this year and 200 supporters that follow the bikers so our town bloomed to almost 1,400 people!!  All of the churches served wonderful meals for the group: Catholics had fried chicken dinner, Methodists had Smorgsabord, Church of Christ had Tacos and Runzas, E-Free had Spaghetti and they all sold out which is wonderful for our churches!!  There were also various organizations that had snacks, drinks etc. for sale also.  The local businesses also went "all out" decorating their store fronts with posters and decorated bikes to welcome our visitors.  Where I work, we had an old rusty bike with a basket in front of it filled with flowers.  It was cute!

Go to this link and it tells all about the BRAN coming to Sargent and has photos!! I was too busy working to get many photos so this link shows some.

Next year the BRAN group will choose a different route across Nebraska so we won't be on the route but it was great to have them visit.

I hope to have some cards to show you soon.  I have been crafting but have not had time to post.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  My Dad's 81st birthday is tomorrow so we are taking him out to eat- YUM!
