I was actually making some baby cards while watching baby calves being born (see previous post)on Sunday afternoon. This first one was CASED from Mary Fish.
Mary's was blue and I used different ribbon, different DSP and a different sentiment but I love the stamp set and the sketch!
This next card was one I did come up with myself.
Of course, I have to decorate the inside as well as the front!
Simple, but I think it just adds a little extra to the card. Got this idea from my friend, Pam :)
Have a great Tuesday!

P.S. I have been posting for ONE YEAR now and I have almost 5,000 views so I will be having some BLOG CANDY coming up so stayed tuned!

Babies, Babies, Babies!
****WARNING - the following post may not one you might not want to see - pictures of a baby calf being born****
This is what has been happening on the farm lately!
Babies are being born! Our heifers (first calf cows) have started calving and we keep them close by just in case they have some trouble and needs a little help. This is what I watched Sunday afternoon while crafting.
I personally think it is an awesome sight to be able to witness the miracle of birth. God does wonders on this Earth and to see this joy that happens - it brings a smile to my face.
Mommy was very protective and loving and within 20 minutes after birth, this little baby was up trying to get a drink!
I hope I didn't "gross" you out with this post! This is just a part of life on the farm! We ended up having three babies being born to heifers on Sunday. The older cows will begin to calf out in a couple of weeks.
Hope your day is a good one!

Welcome Baby!
My boss's daughter gave birth to a baby girl on 1-12-12 so I wanted to congratulate the Grandparents with a card! I found this one on Splitcoast Stampers:
It is made from the SU! large scallop die. Frenchie has a You Tube tutorial on her blog if you want to make one yourself!
I thought it was darling and so did my boss and his wife!
I am headed to Colorado this weekend to spoil my daughter whom I haven't seen since Christmas!! Have a great weekend and and wonderful President's Day on Monday!

Valentine Treats
Yesterday was cold and windy and not a good day to go outside so I stayed in and baked up some treats. I found this recipe online at Moore Minutes (thanks Debbie for the link!) and thought they looked good for Valentines Day. They are a twist from the peanut butter kiss cookies. They were real easy to whip up.
Mmmmm look at the chunks of maraschino cherries in the batter. Yummy. Then the cookies all rolled out and lined up on the cookie sheet ready to be cooked, delish!
When they came out of the oven, add a wonderful chocolate kiss and cool. They looked so cute all lined up cooling!
And look at the chocolate on this one, it is melting delicious!
Here is the recipe:
Cherry Chocolate Kisses
1 Cup butter, softened
1 Cup powdered sugar
2 tsp. maraschino cherry juice
1/2 tsp. almond extract (I added 1 tsp.)
few drops of red food coloring
2 1/4 Cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 Cup maraschino cherries, drained & chopped
48 or so chocolate kisses, unwrapped
Heat oven to 350 F. In large bowl combine butter, powdered sugar, cherry juice, almond extract and food coloring and blend well. Stir in flour and salt. Add cherries and mix well. Form dough into 1 inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes. Immediately top each cooked with a chocolate kiss and remove to a cooling rack.
Hoping you have a wonderful Valentines Day!

Valentine's Treats!!
I got the idea to make these treats from Angie at the blog Chic' N Scratch. I thought these were cute and I knew my friends would like them!
They are made with a lolly pop inside. I used some retired DSP paper from last year and the new SAB stamp set P.S. I Love You.

Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!
Today is my Mom and Dad's Anniversary!! They have been married 55 years!! This picture was taken at Green Valley Lake, California when they just got engaged.
I love this picture!! Notice my mom has moccasins on! (my hubby calls them teepee creepers) They are back in fashion now! I have so many great memories of Green Valley Lake and this photo takes me back to those "good old days". When we were kids my folks bought a cabin up there and we would spend weekends up there. Such good times!
This next photo was taken at their 50th wedding anniversary down in Arizona.
Tonight we plan on all going out to eat to celebrate! I am thankful that we get to do that.
Love you Mom and Dad!

Sharing In Your Sorrow
I needed to make some more sympathy cards and went to my go to set Thoughts and Prayers.
I ended up making 6 of the same card just to have on hand. Hopefully I won't have to use them for quite awhile.
Woke up this morning to just rain but the weather forecast says the snow is still on its way. Have a great weekend!

Congratulations Baby!
I have been wanting to send my daughter and son-in-law a Congratulations card on their new, upcoming baby (due in July) but between work and not knowing what to make (I wanted to make it special) I haven't done anything....until this past weekend. I found on Stampin' Anne's blog the perfect card! She had used this sketch for her card:
And she came up with this card:
Isn't is adorable??? They don't know what their baby is so I wanted to use blue and pink in the card and I didn't have some of the supplies Stampin' Anne used so I used the same layout and the same stamp set Baby Bundle from SU!, some retired SU! DSP paper, SU!'s baja breeze, and pretty in pink cardstock and came up with my version:
I think my card turned out cute, even if I don't color too well!
I added some tiny rhinestones for a little bling and don't you just love these tiny hearts all lined up?
I finished the inside pretty simple and jotted a note to them how excited I am and can't wait til summer!

Speaking of summer, we have been having summer like weather in Nebraska. This week we have had records broken for high's and today it was a balmy 64 degrees when I left work but all of that is going to change on Friday. The local forecast calls for snow and WIND (which does not mix good). Our weatherman said the worst will be in the heart of central Nebraska. Well, guess where we live??? Can you guess??? Yes, we are in the heart of central Nebraska! I am scheduled to work Saturday and who knows, I might not make it to town. I will have to keep you informed if I make it or not. Maybe I will have to end up in my craft room making more cards.
Until next time - have a good day!
Gail S.
