CASED Card From Chat

Today I cased a card from the blogger Chat Wszelaki from Me, My Stamps and I.  She has CASED the card from someone and I CASED the card from her!  I have a former co-worker that is having a birthday on Tuesday and this card was perfect for her.  She loves her flowers and was always bringing fresh flowers from her garden to work to share with others.

The colors used are Daffodil Delight, Real Red and Lucky Limeade along with Whisper White.  the DSP are from scraps that I had as well as the bow.  I used the herringbone embossing folder and the Mixed Bunch stamp set as well as the Mixed Bunch coordinating punch. The flower pot I just cut out by eyeballing it.  The bottom of the pot is 2" and the top is 3" and I just took scissors and angled my cut on both sides.

Of course, I had to decorate the inside of the card!

I used the same colors and the scallop border edge punch (I also used it on the flower pot on the front)

After I took pictures, I noticed I did not add any leaves to the flowers so I real quick made a couple of leaves out of lucky limeade and attached those.

I also added tiny brads from the brights collection to the center of two of the flowers and used the retired stamp set Circle of Friendship to the center of the middle flower.

Hope you have a wonderful day!!

A Box Of Sunshine!

I have a very good friend that has been in the hospital since February.  She has been in Lincoln, Nebraska which is about 3 1/2 hours from us and I have been unable to visit her.  Now she has been moved to a hospital closer to us and I was able to visit her this past weekend.  While she was in Lincoln, she celebrated her birthday down there and so I sent her a "Box of Sunshine!!" another idea I got off of Pinterest.  The idea is to gather as much items that are yellow or that are happy!  I came up with this!

I sent her some bath gel and lotion, a pack of tissues which I decorated the outside, candies, a candle, tic tacs, a notepad and pen ~ whatever you can find that will put a smile to someone's face.  I printed out a sign and adhered it to the top of the box.  You can click HERE to go to the website where I got this idea and download the sunshine printable for your own use!

Then I made a card for her using a retired SU!stamp set that I love!  It is simply called "Smile".

I made the card very simple & just added a get well sentiment on the inside and decorated the top and bottom with some yellow scalloped pieces of cardstock.

I hope this inspires you to add a little sunshine to someone's life!

Thanks for stopping by!

With Heartfelt Sympathy

Unfortunately, I have had to make some more sympathy cards so I went to my new favorite hobby, Pinterest and found some new ideas!

This card used my old time favorite stamp set - Thoughts and Prayers and I used the setiment from the set Close as a memory.

I like how the "branch" is stamped going upward and I also like the simple idea of just using black ink/cardstock on white.  The camera didn't pick it up but I used the score plate to emboss a square inside of the white cardstock.  You can see it slightly on the image below.  I really like how it outlined the card.

I added some mini pearls to give it a little texture but other than that, kept it real simple.

Thanks for dropping in!

Fresh Vintage Butterfly

In the most recent Sale-a-Bration flyer for Stampin' Up! they had a card that I thought was so beautiful using the Everyday Elegance DSP paper that was a special during SAB.  I wanted to make the card using different SU! papers and came up with this birthday card.

The camera did not pick up the versa marked images on the green cardstock but I did stamp  on it to give it more depth.  This is the inside of the card.  I used the little butterfuly embosslit that SU! sells.

Til next time!

Wow! Where Has The Time Gone?

I have not been on Blogger since April 1st and just like Facebook is changing to timeline, Blogger changed how to post!  So when I just got on, I was shocked and I am just trying to figure it out...so hope this post looks okay.

Where does time go in our lives???  I ask this because I cannot believe that it is almost the end of April.  Life here in Nebraska is well.  Very busy but well.  I have been having some minor health problems but hopefully we will get those figured out and be good as new soon.  We have eliminated that there are no serious problems so now we have to work on small deductions to figure out my problem.

I have not be in the craft room very much due to horrible headaches that have been keeping me down but I did manage to make a few cards while I have been gone. I will be sharing those in the next few days.

Last weekend, we traveled to Omaha to attend a wedding reception.  The Bride's father graduated with my husband and her mother graduated with me.  In spite of the horrible weather that was predicted for Omaha last weekend (weather channel predicted a 9 in 10 chance for a tornado!)it just rained although there were tornados spotted in other parts of Nebraska. The reception was packed full of people and we were served wonderful food.  Above is the card that I made for the new couple.  Below is the inside of the card.

I left the inside pretty simple and wrote a few encouraging words inside.  The new couple will make their home in Florida.

Thanks for stopping by!  If you have any helpful hints for throbbing headaches, please let me know :)

Good Sunday!

It actually feels like summer in Nebraska today! Temps in the 80's and I mowed the lawn today - and that is not an April Fools Joke! Beautiful.

For Sunday dinner I made this

Sweet & Tangy Chicken

I got the recipe off of Pinterest but you can go to HERE to get the recipe.  It was easy and the family loved it.  I served it with rice, salad and fresh strawberries. I will make this again.

Glad you stopped by today.

Hello!

It has been real busy on the Slagle Farm!  Baby calves are running everywhere and things are really getting green.  Spring is coming early to Nebraska. I even have seen the tractors out in the fields.

This past weekend, a friend of my daughter's hosted a baby shower for her at my house and she did such a wonderful job!  She had so many cute ideas!  Just look at this ~

On top of the bar, she had sugar scrub and cookies in a jar mixes for the ladies that attended and the little onesies lined up on the front, she gave as a gift to Abbey!

The food she selected was delicious!!  We had bar-b-que meatballs, chicken salad sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, stuffed cheesecake strawberries, assorted cheese, assorted veggies w/dips, decorated cupcakes and mints.  Everything was wonderful and a lot of her ideas she got off of Pinterest! I forgot to take a picture of the table but it was decorated so pretty in pink, fushia and silver.  Hanging from the ceiling she had tissue paper flowers.

Another idea which I got off of the computer were these cute little paper shoes that I made.

This is what they looked like at the shower ~ I filled them with pink M & M's and Kisses.

The ladies (and the babies that came) got to take a shoe home with them.

Abbey got so many wonderful gifts for the baby.  She is very lucky (so is the baby!)

It was such a great afternoon.  We played some games and everyone filled out a couple of words with advice for a scrapbook.

I was happy to have Abbey home until Tuesday when she had to head back home to Colorado.  She got to stay here four days and while she was home, we had a wonderful visit. And while she was home she made dinner every night!!  I wish I had a personal chef that would make dinner every night (hehe)

I have not been in the crafting mood and have not made a single card in the past couple of weeks but I hope to get in there sometime soon.  I the meantime, I do have a few posts on other things that have been going on that I will post in the next few days.

Thanks for stopping by.
